Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway’s first signature shoe with Nike arrived in 1995 while he was playing with the Orlando Magic. The Air Max Penny 1 was equipped with heel cushioning borrowed from Nike’s Air Max range, in addition to a jeweled Swoosh on the upper and, of course, Penny’s iconic 1 Cent logo stamped on the heel. Now one of the most beloved examples of ‘90s basketball footwear design, the most popular colorways of the Penny 1 include “Orlando” and “Lil Penny” as well as the 2022 collaboration with Social Status.
