Really excited about your album that's coming out in March. What's a song that you're excited for your fans to hear on the project?
A
All of them. Every single one is just so cute. It's so me, it's so nostalgic, it's so fun. It's a mix of turn up and lover girl music. Something you can do your makeup to. You know what I'm saying? It is lit.
FC
Who is this album for?
A
For the girls. But if you're a man and you want to listen to it, stream me up baby, do your thing. But just know I'm talking shit about y'all. I really want to be a confidence booster for the ladies but still be personable, so I'm not about to sit here like shit is all sweet and peaches. I tell you what's real. We get down and we cry all around here too. But we still bossy bitches. Everything that I do is a confidence booster and a battery in your back to leave that n**** that ain't shit.

Your beats have a very nostalgic vibe that we love. Are you reliving any part of your youth when you lock in that nostalgic sound? If so, what was that young Nene like?
A
Well, I'm really hands-on with everything that I make. A lot of the time, I give my producers playlists or samples that I like and tell them what I'm going for. Everything is based off of my childhood and the music that I grew up listening to and whatnot. I've always been the same, but it was different versions of the same person, if that makes sense. I was always up in my mama business. I was always in grown folks' business, always. My mom used to call me the Mouth from the South. She used to be with her homegirls talking about some mae and I used to be like, 'Girl, you need to leave him.' I knew everything that was going on. I was always in my mama heels. I've always been one of the girls since birth.

As a kid, who believed in you the most?
A
Me, honestly. Of course you have family members and friends that believe in you, but the most important person that needs to believe in you is yourself. Through everything, as hard as things may have gotten with everything that I've been through in life, I've always believed that I was destined for something to go on and I was supposed to be who I am. I always knew that there were bigger and better things for me.

Did you grow up listening to Atlanta's classics?
A
I grew up listening to a little bit of everything. My family's originally from New Orleans and my mom was raised in California, so I have a wide variety when it comes to music. But I know damn near every song that came out of Atlanta that meant something. That's what Grady Baby is based off of. Everything that I grew up listening to, that's my playlist right now. I don't listen to no new music; no shade. I love everybody that's out, but I don't do all that. I need peace and tranquility. No shade again.
FC
What feels different about Atlanta's music scene today?
A
You know what? I'm going to just say it. Atlanta is a lot of monkey see, monkey do right now. It's a lot of copying and basically just not knowing. A lot of people don't know themselves. You are creating your personality based off of another person. Atlanta is losing authenticity now because back in the days when there was OutKast and stuff like that, everybody had their own style. But I like what I like. I am who I am. I exude confidence. I can dominate any room by myself. I'm gifted with the luxury of being confident. Everybody don't have that.
FC
If we were going with you to Atlanta tomorrow, what's on the schedule?
A
Strip club and chicken wings. No girl, I don't even be doing that. You'll probably end up at my house watching Tubi movies and chilling. We probably go get a little bite to eat. I always know the good spots. I'm not really a club girl for real. I got a crystal store I go to; we can go up in there. Doing anything with a little double shot of Hennessy, just me and you.
FC
How did the Atlanta church community shape you, if at all?
A
I honestly have so much to say. I don't even feel like filtering myself or dealing with no disagreements or no opinions, but look he see you doing the shit. He see you cheating on your baby mama. He see you doing it. Don't try to talk. You know what I'm saying? Me and the Lord, we are like this all the way. Catholic Church ain't really have no influence on me like that though. I remember they was eating off one piece of bread and drinking out the same cup. I wasn't really fucking with that, no offense, because germs and shit. But I get it. I fuck with the Catholic Church.
FC
What does Atlanta do better than everyone else?
A
Fry some motherfucking chicken wings. I'm not going to argue with nobody and I don't care. But that's about it right now. I'm not going to lie…I'm really honestly disappointed in my city because there's a lot of stuff going on right now. It's really annoying. But I love Atlanta through and through. I'm never going to leave. We do have amazing, beautiful women, but you know, I've also been to a lot of other places and there's some shit out there. I've been to London, and they got ass like molasses out there. Skin glowing because they don't got no GMO and shit up in their food. And in Houston, they dragging wagons out there. They're beautiful, gorgeous.
FC
Yeah, what makes Atlanta so fun for people to visit?
A
It's unhinged, it's unfiltered. It's always some shit going on. I went to my friend's house recently on the westside. I swear to God: somebody pulled up at the stop sign, honked the horn, yelled at me. 'What's up princess? You have a blessed day.' I turn around and it's a man popping a wheelie on the bike and then I turn around again and there's a lady yelling at that man with a pitbull barking at you full force looking like he fixing to hop over the fence. It's a million things always going on in Atlanta. Nobody has a filter, nobody gives a fuck. We all crazy as hell.
FC
What does a good night out with your girlfriends look like?
A
A good night with my girls is literally in the house. Nobody give a damn how they look. I probably don't got no wig on. I'm probably cooking. We watching Tubi movies, and I'm talking about the bad Tubi movies too. The ones where they dodge bullets and stuff in slow motion. We all got on pajamas or whatever busted outfit we got on. We taking random naps and having moments of silence around that bitch. You got your wax candles burning. You got some blunts and a little Hennessy.

What's your superpower?
A
Being a bad bitch all the time. No matter what's going on. I could be crying. I still look like a bad bitch. Crying with your wig sliding back? Still a bad bitch. Got a dookie? Still a bad bitch. On the toilet, looking bad by the way with a 40 inch bust down. Got to put it to the front so it don't be dripping in the toilet.

What's your best piece of advice to young girls who look up to you?
A
Do what you want to do, trust your gut, and keep your car filled up. Keep your car filled up and don't go to the gas station at night––ever. And trust your gut. Trust your gut for real. If it don't feel right, then it ain't right so leave. You wouldn't be second guessing it if it was right, and even if ain't nothing happened, at least you got home. Trust your gut.
